A Typical Day in Lyon

I either woke up at 6.50am or 7.15am, depending whether michele was working on that day. If she had to teach at INSA that day, eugene normally came my house at 7.55am, and we left at 8am. Michele worked twice or thrice per week. On other ways, i left my house to take the bus at 7.45am, usually reaching school at 8.50am.

Our lessons started at 9am and ended at 3pm. For most of us, the lessons were too long, and we preferred a shorter lesson, so that we had more time to visit places in Lyon, as well as spent more time with our hosts. Marie-France told us that it was NUS's instructions to give us 5 hours of lessons per day, and you can guess how much we hated NUS then when she told us.

In school, andi and i would get hungry at around 10am, and sometimes, you could hear our stomachs growling, which was quite embarrassing. Haha. We usually brought biscuits, which we tried to eat discreetly in front of our teachers. Once, someone made too much noise while trying to open the wrapper that marie-france told us to eat only during the break. :S

the room where we gathered during break. there are 3 computers there, and the french keyboard had a different layout, which we were unused to.

We had lunch at the canteen at INSA, and the food was usually not bad, except for occassions when they attempted to cook rice. Haha.

After school, we usually played a few rounds of frisbee before visiting the attractions in Lyon or went shopping in Lyon Part Dieu or Bellcour.

Once i reached home, i would go straight to the garden to play with Sam. In the beginning, we took turns to be the goalkeeper, but soon, i decided to be solely the goal keeper as it was less tiring since a goalkeeper didn't have to run around with the ball.

Sam's little house. Once i hid inside it when playing hide and seek. He searched everywhere but didn't find me. Heee.

the trees where sam always hid under

We frequently played hide and seek as well, and sam always ran to hide among the few trees in the garden. I had difficulty getting under the tree branches, and he would quickly run away if i attempted to come in.

bread, cheese, and carrots.

Sam was the first to finish dinner, then he would pester me to play with him again. Usually we competed to see who was the first to throw the basketball into the net 10 times. To add on to the fun, i often used my hands to block his view while he threw the ball. And him? He would find another ball, and when my ball was about to enter the net, he threw another ball up the net so that i wouldn't score. Haha.

At 9pm, michele would stop us from playing, and she made sure Sam slept after he took his shower. While Sam went showering, i also made use of this time to bathe and did my personal stuff.

I went to the living room at 10pm. Usually, michele and her husband were watching television, and i joined them. Understanding a television programme was too tedious because there weren't any subtitles, and the french were too fast. Michele was very nice, and translated most of the the dialogues to me. I remembered watching a french detective story, and La Vita e Bella, which was sinhui's favourite italien movie.

At other times, michele conversed to me in french, and asked me about singapore, while i asked her about france. When the dialogues became too complicated, she would explain to me in english instead. Hee.. Michele was really helpful, and wrote down a lot of french words onto my book, so i could understand what she was saying.
