Paris Day 2
Stadium Hotel was a good hostel to stay in, and it was close to the metro station "Porte de la Chapelle". This is the only one that provides breakfast. Though the breakfast was simple, it beated buying food for breakfast in paris, which cost a bomb.

This marked the start of eating bread in france.

dining area in the hotel

apples after breakfast??

on the way to the metro, there was this shop selling magazines, and what amazed us is the big poster showing nudes but with crosses on the sensitive areas.
something unfortunate happened to sinhui during the journey to eiffel towel though.

Eiffel Towel

Some of us decided not to climb up the eiffel towel, and we walked around the area, witnessing the french civil service doing rappelling from the eiffel towel, which was quite impressive.

can you see the man rappelling down?

There was this kind and ethusiastic lady, who helped to take this photo. She was unsatisfied with what she took, and she asked us to repose again and again for the shot. Haha

Notre Dame de Paris, one of the most famous cathedrales in france.

Some photos taken in Notre Dame

Shop where we bought lunch, which consisted of mainly BREAD...

The Not-Very-Nice Lunch
Lunch was not nice, and i was quite sick of bread already, haha.
A french guy walked past us while we were eating. He asked Heqi,'vous souriez souvent?' (Do you smile often?)
After this, heqi became very excited, and waved to the people on the boats or on the bus. They often waved back to us too. Probably think that we are crazy. Haha.

A place where we finally found the toilets

Yawnz. Sitting on a bench, which was situated just next to the roads. So strange.

The view of the buildings from the bench
We walked past the streets, and purchased some books along the way. I bought the little prince and an enid blyton's book in french! We really walked a very long journey, and whenever we found a bench, we would quickly rush to rest.

A DISNEY Shop along Champs-Élysées
Champs-Élysées is also called La plus belle avenue du monde, "The most beautiful avenue in the world."
We went along Champs-Élysées to Arc de Triomphe, and it was so tiring, haha,(look out for michelle's blister in the next post). We also found out that movies tickets in france cost around 10.50 euros(21SGD). Being poor tourists, we figured out that we couldn't afford most of the clothings and so we didn't enter most of the shops.

Arc de Triomphe
We had a hard time trying to find the underground entrance to Arc de Triomphe. We asked two persons(probably americans) for directions, and they were having problems explainign in french. It was quite amusing because after a while, they realised that we spoke english, and we communicated in english instead.
Lynn started showing signs of her weariness. She said something like,'the ceiling is flat and short' when we were at the underground passage. None could understand her. Haha.
Climbing up the Arc de Triomphe was really tedious. There were 236 steps, and the staircases were spiral, which made one dizzy.

We saw cyclists popping out from nowhere and they obstructed the traffic for 5mins before the police came and kept things under control. Till now, we still don't know what happened.

View of Eiffel Towel being lit.

we had dinner at a shop along Champs-Élysées, and everyone was so tired. Lynn pointed to a croissant and said,'this is a croissant.' And then minutes later, she pointed to the same thing, and asked,'what is this?' Haha.
I couldn't find any photos of our dinner on this day, So if you have any, please send to me. thanks
