chez andi

Friday, after school, I went to andy’s house to watch soccer. This is so unlike me lar, haha. I never liked soccer, and always failed to understand what is so fun watching soccer matches

These two guys were playing guitar on the bus, haha, can u imagine anyone trying to do that in Singapore?

We only saw one Mac in Lyon, which was at Bellcour. This day, i also managed to send postcards to a few friends back in Singapore.

I reached gorge de loup at around 2330, and have to wait 40 mins for the bus. I nearly fell asleep at the bus stop, and to be frank, it wasn’t very safe to be outside at such a late hour. The people you see on the metro and the bus are very different, and many of them are drunk. I was quite full when I came back, but Michele prepared food nicely on the my table, and I ended up spending one hour to finish all of them.

Guillotiere ( the 'china town' street at lyon)

the veggie shown at the upper right corner doesn't taste nice at all

Letch's host sarah told her of this 'china town' street at guillotiere, and told her that she could bring her around that area after school. Hence, some of us joined her as we were curious what the place was like. It was quite disappointing, because it was just a small street of maybe 4 to 5 shops that were selling chinese food. And we were quite surprised to see Khong Guan biscuits, haha.

We left Guillotiere and headed towards Part Dieu. On the way, we passed by the walls surrounding an open pool. Mark finally showed his 'true' self, and quickly stood on the sides of the wall to have a 'good' view. There was this french lady who was sun tanning with her back facing the sun, and wearing nothing.

this was supposed to be a club at night.

this was the first time trying this kind of fromage, which michele and her family liked to ate with strawberries. Add the fromage and strawberries and some sugar, and the combination was terrific.

j'aime beaucoup de fraises!

after dinner, michele asked me to go for a walk with her around the neighbourhood. We chatted along the way, and she told me things like how the number of people staying at Dardilly was increasing over the years, and more and more houses were being constructed.

a modern house that michele liked. She said that her house looked too old, and she preferred a modern design like this.

what was a cow doing here?? :S

new appartments to be built here. I don't mind migrating here, haha. She also told me that there was this place at Dardilly with appartments heavily subsided for the lower income workers in france. Welfare system in France!

A very important place for Michele because this was where she got married. Hee.

Cycling with Michele's Husband, Sam and Eugene

Today is the 7th September, and yet i am blogging till only the second week of France. As i was writing this post, i recalled a lot of memories : the days in Lyon, taking bus no 3 at 7.40am, eating with friends at the canteen, attending lessons, playing frisbee, and exploring the different parts of Lyon.

Eating with michèle, her husband and Sam, and playing everyday with Sam. I wonder if they still missed me sometimes now.

Anyway, on this day, i went back home straight after lessons, because michèle's husband suggested eugene and i to go cycling with him and Sam. Faire du velo!

yoghurt is part of the meals at insa everyday

It had been long time since i started cycling, and it took me quite a while to get used to it. Sam was so cute when he rode on the small bike, hee, unfortunately i didn't take any photos of him riding. Eugene rode from his house to join us.

Michèle's husband is old, but he is still so fit, and cycle much faster than us. Michèle told me before that sometimes, he will cycle to his sister(i think, or is it his friends?) house which is like 40km away. Haha.

We stopped at this area, and had a rest for a while. Soon we proceeded to cycle, and then Sam fell! There was a little cut near his groin area, and he cried. This was the first time that i saw him crying.

As a result, Michèle's husband brought him home first, and told eugene and me to cycle on our own. Notice that i never mentioned his name, because i have no idea how to spell. It is pronounced as Gi-Ha. Sigh, my fault for not finding out.

Behind me was a railway track.

We cycled and there was only one direct path. Hence we followed the path, and realised that the journey was down slope all the way. Wa, and i had to keep pressing on the brakes. The worst thing is that when we returned, haha upslope all the way. Halfway during the journey back home, we decided to walk with the bikes since it was way too tiring.

Dogs are a common sight in France. This reminds me of Letch's famous phrase, ''The pigeons in Paris are bigger than the dogs'', and Lynn's phrase, "the pigeons and the dogs''. Haha.

Dinner time

Sam smiling again. Though he was hurt, he didn't seem to get affected, and as usual, asked me to play with him. Ah , he is never tired.

Michèle showed me how to eat fromage(cheese) with bread

Une Promenade Avec Michele et Sam

There was a short singing session during class today. Marie-France, our teacher, sang the French national anthem in class! Siewsze, heqi and andi sang their own national anthems of Malaysia, China and Indonesia respectively too. I had it recorded on my digital camera! Haha. The singaporeans sang our anthem together too.

enthusiasm shown while singing france''s national anthemn

the lunch today wasn't very filling

girls in black,except letch

fish fillet for dinner!

michele prepared rice today. I was surprised to know that Sam didn't like to eat cheese(fromage) and he preferred rice instead. That day, i took extra two servings of rice, and michele was shocked at my appetite. Haha. This could be the reason why she told her class that i ate a lot at home.

Oh my God! Sam had a BIG belly!

Michele's husband growing plants.

After dinner, I visited the park near my house, and along the way, sam kept bugging me to play the ball with him. The park was a private one, quite unknown, unlike parc de la tete d'or. Hence there were very few people. The air was fresh, and the weather was cooling. How I wished I have a house near a garden.

Michele told me that these round things in the field were used to feed the cows.

I put the ball on top of this thing, so that sam couldn't get it. hee.

Sam got michele to carry him up.
